"At dusk the sounds are dreamlike, hypnotizing in their gorgeous monotony. Crickets
buzz. Frogs burp. Fish fling themselves crazy and splash. The river murmurs on and
on as the stars are born again. Every night is streaked with their falling and the sky
offers a thousand wishes for the making. The peace and quiet tells enormous stories.
And listening is like having a conversation with a part of myself I didn't know."

The SALMON RIVER LODGE is an ideal setting for family reunions, weddings, and group rentals. The main lodge is comfortably furnished in Old West décor with five bedrooms, two full baths and a modern, ranch-style kitchen.

Our two-acre lawn offers unparalled views of the Sawtooths and private access to some of the best fishing on the Salmon River.

Years ago, when a lone dirt road sliced through the Sawtooths, the lodge served as a rest stop called Big Bend Ranch. Our famous old bridge has been restored but the wood stove coffee and backcountry hospitality keep travelers coming back year after year. We still have the "Thank you" note from John and Adlai Stevenson in our files!

Rates: Lodging Only: $800.00 per night w/ two night minimum.* *Additional costs for special events vary according season, number of guests and specific catering requirements. Maximum event size: 100 people.

Cowboy Bo's "Home on the Range"
recipe:
The best way to cook any part of a rangy longhorn is toss it in a pot with a horseshoe, and when the horseshoe is soft and tender, you can eat the beef
.
